LG launches Watch Urbane 2nd Edition with LTE connectivity, higher-resolution display

Watch Urbane 2nd Edition
LG has launched the Watch Urbane 2nd Edition, offering LTE connectivity and a larger 1.38-inch display with a resolution of 480 x 480 and a pixel density of 348ppi.

While the Watch Urbane LTE featured cellular connectivity, today's model is the first LTE-enabled smartwatch to run Android Wear, offering a nano-SIM slot. Other specs of the Watch Urbane 2nd Edition include a Snapdragon 400 SoC, 768MB LPDDR3 RAM, 4GB storage, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, built-in GPS for location tracking, and a 570mAh battery that's designed to last an entire day. Fitness-focused features include heart rate monitoring, workout coaching and stress level monitoring.
In terms of design, the latest Watch Urbane is slightly thicker than its predecessor, and features two physical buttons on either side of the crown that provide quick access to settings such as contacts and LG Health.
You might well note that features like cellular connectivity, speakers and support for more than one button aren't actually a part of Android Wear today. Google tells Android Central that adding these things are all part of its wearables plan, and that we'll get more information in due time.
"A smartwatch should be really useful to you, even when you don't have your smartphone nearby," a Google spokesperson told Android Central via e-mail. "Over the past year, we've focused on features that make this possible, like wifi support. Next up, we're working on cellular connectivity and will share more details soon."
The new Watch Urbane will be available in four color variants: Space Black, Opal Blue, Luxe White, Signature Brown. The bands are non-removable this time around and are made out of hypoallergenic TPSiV elastomer. The watch is also certified IP67 for dust and water resistance.
LG mentions that the Watch Urbane 2 will debut in the United States and Korea, followed by markets in Europe, CIS, Asia and the Middle East. Pricing and availability will be announced at a later date.
